Cards Make it Five Wins in a Row as Allie Lynch '11 Gets Game-Winner on First Career Goal
The daughter of Daniel Lynch '80 and Liz Heller Lynch '80, Allie Lynch '11 (#23, photo by SteveMcLaughlinPhotography.com) picked up the first goal of her field hockey career with 3:38 left in the first half and it proved to be the game-winner in a 3-0 victory over visiting Eastern Conn. Wed., Oct. 10. Wesleyan had a 21-3 edge in shots during the contest by Lynch's tally was the only goal of the game into the final moments. Then both Adrienne Shea '08 on a tip-in and Maddie Rottman '08 on a drive during a corner, padded the lead for the final margin. Wesleyan is now 4-0 vs. Eastern Conn. with a 13-1 differential in goals. Rottman also had an assist in the contest while Amanda Nickels '08 (#20, left side of photo) had a pair of assists. Goalie Breen McDonald '10 needed to make just one save but it was crucial at the time, coming with 9:30 to play. With a five-game win streak going, the Cardinals will look to extend their good fortune into a NESCAC game Sat., Oct. 13 when Bates comes to town.
