Following Wesleyan's 7-8 final overall record during the 2007 season, one which featured a six-game win steak, two Cardinals were honored by the NESCAC coaches with a spot on the all-NESCAC second-team. Team co-captain Tory Whitney '08 (#5, main photo), a three-year starter on defense who started all 15 games in 2007, and goaltender Breen McDonald '10 (#65, photo insert upper right) were Wesleyan's honorees. Whitney also found a spot on the Longstreth/NFHCA New England West Division III second team along with attacker Amanda Nickels '08 (#20, photo insert lower right). McDonald, who played every minute in net for the Cards this season, fashioned a .831 save percentage, which ranked third in the league, and a 1.49 goals-against average, which put her sixth in the NESCAC. Her 7.53 saves per contest placed her fourth in the conference. She posted three shutouts in 2007. After a 1-4 start to the year, Wesleyan went on a six-game win streak to raise its mark to 7-4 before dropping four in a row at season's end. Three of those four defeats came against NCAA Division III tournament qualifiers from the NESCAC Bowdoin and Tufts. Wesleyan fell to the Jumbos twice with the second coming during the opening round of the NESCAC tournament by a narrow 1-0 count thanks to seven saves by McDonald. She also had 14 vs. Bowdoin in a 2-0 setback to the undefeated, top-ranked Polar Bears.
