Wesleyan Defeats Tufts, 19-7, in Three 15-Minute Periods

Scrimmage held on Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999 at Middletown, Conn.

Game Notes: Wesleyan marched 74 yards on six plays following the opening kickoff to get on the board when Jake Fay '00 hit George Thompson '02 from 25 yards out. Wesleyan made it 13-0 using six plays to go 33 yards on its second possession. That TD was set up by Derrick Brantley's '02 block of a Tufts punt. Larry Woolard '02 flipped into the endzone from two yards out for the TD. After Tufts cut the margin to 13-7 following a Wesleyan fumble and subsequent 43-yard drive, Wesleyan tacked on the final points when Matt Perceval '00 caught a Kevin Cornish '02 pass on a quick slant, eluded one tackler and outraced the rest of the Tufts defense to the endzone for a 60-yard score.
