Notes: The Wesleyan offense rolled up a season-high 496 yards with 341 through the air and 155 on the ground to streak past Bowdoin, 41-31, and improve to 4-2 on the year. Bowdoin droped to 1-5 on the season.
Wesleyan QB Brennan Carney was on his game as he completed nearly 70 percent of his passes, going 25-for-36, good for a career-high 341 yards and three TDs, two to George Thompson, who had eight catches for 135 yards, and one to Todd Themistocles, who finished with eight receptions for 85 yards. Leading Wesleyan on the ground with his second 100+-yard game of the season was Young Douglas as he amassed 119 yards on 22 carries and found the endzone three times.
After Bowdoin took the early lead on a 29-yard John Rock field goal, Wesleyan scored 34 of the next 41 points for a commanding 34-10 advantage after three quarters. The teams exchanged TDs early in the fourth period before Bowdoin ended the game with 14 points in the closing minutes against Wesleyan's second-team defense. Bowdoin collected 357 yards on the day with more than one-third of that total coming on its final two drives (133 yards). Fullback Mike Tayloir had 99 yards for Bowdoin on 20 attempts and Justin Hardison completed 18 of 39 passes for 207 yards. Jason Rawlins made seven catches for 76 yards as the top target for Hardison.
Wesleyan will host undefeated Williams (6-0) during Homecoming and Family Weekend activities Nov. 3 in its final home game. The contest will be televised in NESN starting at noon .
