Notes: Wesleyan rolled up 382 yards on offense, led by the running of frosh Pat Curran (10-78, two TDs) and the passing-receiving combination of junior QB Brennan Carney (14-of-21, 246 yards, two TDs) and junior wide receiver Pat Moffett (6-167, two TDs) to improve to 2-0 on the season with a 37-10 victory over Hamilton in its home opener. Hamilton dropped to 0-2 on the year. Wesleyan is now 18-13 all-time vs. Hamilton and has won the last six meetings. Wesleyan jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Wesleyan linebacker Quincy Francis forced a fumble after a catch by Hamilton Logan Pascarella and Wesleyan's Greg Thomas recovered at Hamilton's 25, bringing it to the 12. Curran did the honors from there, going up then middle for the 12-yard TD at 10:13. Wesleyan scored on its next possession going 47 yards on five plays following a Hamilton punt. Carney hit Moffett from six yards out for the score as he completed four straight passes for 49 yards (there was a rush for minus-2) during the drive. The teams traded 37-yard field goal in the second quarter before Curran picked up his second TD, this time from 11 yards out, to complete a five play, 59-yard drive at 2:54 of the period for a 23-3 lead. The extra point was blocked. It was 30-3 on a 60-yard pass from Carney to a wide-open Moffett down the middle of the field at 8:05 of the third quarter. It was Moffett's fourth TD catch of the year with three going for 50 yards or more. He averages 30 yards a catch this season (12 for 361 yards). Hamilton's James Drummer picked up the first TD of the season for his squad at 4:58 of the period when he capped a 62-yard march on eight plays with a two-yard burst (Hamilton was shut out in its operner last week at Tufts, 20-0). Carney's 38-yard pass to Moffett early in the fourth quarter set up Young Douglas' two-yard burst up the middle for the game's final points. Hamilton was paced offensively by RB Elijah Huling (19-71) and on defense, defensive end Chris Smith had three sacks for minus-24 yards, accounting for three of Hamilton four sacks. Wesleyan travels to Colby next week while Hamilton hosts Trinity.
