In a game that featured a 79-yard TD run by NESCAC Offensive Player of the Week QB Zach Librizzi '08 (#12 in photo) and a 100-yard interception return for a score by NESCAC Rookie of the Week Justin Freres '11 (#46, photo insert upper right by Don Chapin 'P09), Wesleyan rolled to a 41-21 victory over Bates in a game played in Middletown Sat., Oct. 13. In addition to those two long plays, Shea Dwyer '10 shook a potential tackle near the line of scrimmage after receiving a screen pass and darted 47 yards for a TD, Lane Kirshe '10 found paydirt on a 23-yard run and Librizzi scampered 17 yards for another score. The remaining TD was a nine-yard strike from Librizzi to Kevin Leamy '09 on a rollout (above main photo). Librizzi finished the day with nine carries for 121 yards and 13 completions for 173 yards. Dwyer ran for 97 yards on 18 attempts and caught five passes for 86 yards as Wesleyan rolled up 288 yards on the ground and 461 total yards in the contest. After three home games in its opening four of the season, Wesleyan is on the road to Little Three rival Amherst for its next encounter Sat., Oct. 20.
