After averaging 85.3 strokes a round in his inaugural season with the Cardinals last year, Dan DeRienzo '11 (photo) came through with a solid 77-78-155 total to pace the team during its season-opening action in the Trinity Invitational Sat. and Sun., Sept. 6-7. Facing some stiff competition, Wesleyan posted a two-day team total of 642 which placed the squad behind the other six competing teams. Posting the Cardinals' best round of the tournament was Peter Taylor '12 with an opening-day 76 en route to a 159 two-day total. During the annual Duke Nelson Invitational at Middlebury Sat. and Sun., Sept. 13-14, Taylor was tops on the team as he tied for 18th among 116 entrants with a 76-76-152 total. Tying for 38th with a 75-82-157 score was Eli Wilson '09. His 75 was the team's best round during the tournament as Wesleyan placed 18th of 22 teams with a 649 total. The next action takes the Cardinals to Williams College for its invitational Sat. and Sun., Sept. 20-21.
