Led by the 77-74-151 total of team captain Eli Wilson '09 (photo), Wesleyan came up with a 623 stroke team total during the annual Williams College Invitational Sat. and Sun., Sept. 20-21. That put the Cardinals in a tie for 11th place with W.N.E.C. among 20 teams. A participant in the Williams Invite each year since the mid-1990s, Wesleyan's 623 score is 12 below the team's best-ever previous effort at the tournament, posted in 2006. Joining Wilson, who finished in a tie for 19th place among 107 participants, with a sub-160 total were Dan DeRienzo '11 and Pete Taylor '12, both of whom carded a 154 to tie for 38th. The next action for the squad will be the NESCAC Qualifier hosted by Middlebury Sat. & Sun., Sept. 27-28. The top four teams from the qualifier will compete in the spring for the conference's automatic bid to the NCAAs.
