Playing their opening match of the spring in lovely Port St. Lucie, Fla., Sat., Match 20, the Cardinals took on NESCAC powerhouse Hamilton in a dual match. During the fall, Hamilton finished second during the annual NESCAC Championship.
Wesleyan came up just 13 strokes shy of the Continentals with a 328 score to Hamilton's 315 as four scores among six scoring individuals counted toward the team total. Leading the way for Wesleyan, as he did all fall, was Pete Taylor '12 (main photo) with a seven-over-par 79. It was two strokes better than his score on the same course a year earlier. Joining Taylor with a 79 was Alex Levin '12 (photo insert left side), who also improved up his 2009 posting by four strokes. Wesleyan's other team scoring came from Dan DeRienzo '11 (84) and Tom Salah '12 (86). Charlie Alderman '11 (87) and Jeff Beck '10 (91) rounded out Wesleyan's group of potential scorers while Eli Kendall '10 and A.J. Ferraro '12 also took to the links with rounds of 82 and 85, respectively, but were not part of the team scoring scenario. Hamilton had the day's low round with a 77.
Wesleyan returns to action Wed, April 7 when the Cardinals host the Wesleyan Open at Lyman Orchards Golf Course in Middlefield.
