Wesleyan University Athletic Department Mission Statement In the pursuit of excellence,
the Athletic Department strives to be the most innovative and successful
athletic program in the prestigious New England Small College Athletic
Conference (NESCAC) and a leader at the national level. Wesleyan University
pursues excellence in all of its programs. Athletics, as an integral part of the
overall educational process, is uniquely positioned to enhance a liberal arts
education. Wesleyan coaches share the same goal as the entire Wesleyan
community: to transform the lives of our students. To achieve this goal, the
University is committed to support our highly trained and dedicated
faculty-coaches who practice their craft in state-of-the-art facilities. Philosophy Wesleyan University prepares
students to face a rapidly changing world with confidence and a sense of
responsibility to make the world a better place. To that end, the Athletic
Department views its interactions with students as opportunities to help them
discover, develop and test their skills to create positive change. Through the
pursuit of healthy habits and participation in competitive intercollegiate
athletics, Wesleyan scholar-athletes embrace the level of commitment necessary
to achieve their individual goals, aware of the need to bring out the best in
others, successful on the field of play and in the classroom and practiced in
the art of leadership. It is, in fact, the University's expectation that the men
and women who participate in our athletic program will be exceptionally prepared
to excel, contribute, and lead in their communities and beyond.
