| With a solid group of 18 players back, spanning a gap of
30 years, the Wesleyan men's soccer alums took on the current varsity
squad Sunday, Sept. 5 on North Field in the annual contest. In
attendance were: (sitting in front) - Rick Ferri '04. Front
Row (L to R) - Padraig Hughes 03, Ben Harvey '01, Jon Medwid '00, Noah
Levine '02, Eric Steffen '00, Rich Valentino '03, Chris Feige '04, Jon
Hecht '04, Oliver Henzler '97. Back Row (L to R) - R.T. Treveloni
'02, Seth Sholes '82, Bob Birney '81, Marion Stoj '74, Scott Kessel '88,
James Kiehle '64 (referee), Alessandro Angelini '00, Phil King '83, Nick

thanks to excellent goalkeeper from Levine who stopped numerous good
scoring chances by the varsity. The alums got their best scoring chance
when Ferri found himself alone in the middle but had his point-blank shot
smothered by Matt Gnall '08 midway through the second half. The
varsity broke the tie with five minutes to go on a header by Chris Brown
'07 just inside the near post from 12 yards out off a feed from Zach
Steinberg '08 and held on for the win. |
