Using a 10-5 edge in shots during the opening 45 minutes, the Cardinals moved out to a 2-1 halftime lead over visiting Springfield Wed., Sept. 12. Austin Woolridge '11 (#18, main photo) headed in his first career goal in the sixth minute to spot Wesleyan the lead with the assist to Ozzie Parente '09. After the Pride knotted the score, Mark Murphy '10 (#17, photo insert lower right) collared a loose ball in the goal mouth for his first career goal and a 2-1 Wes advantage in the 39th minute. But Springfield rallied for a pair of second-half goals, both on headers as was its first goal of the game, to move ahead 3-2 in the 69th minute. The Cardinals could not find the net over the final 21 minutes as Springfield ended a six-game skid vs. Wesleyan. The Cardinals return to NESCAC action Sat., Sept. 15 with a visit to Trinity.
