Cardinals Fire 16 Shots at Goal During Game at Trinity But Get Nothing to Show for it in 1-0 Loss
Dropping their third straight one-goal game following a 1-0 setback at Trinity Sat., Sept. 15, the Cardinals are in unfamiliar territory after two consecutive NCAA qualifying seasons. Despite a 16-10 edge in shots and several good chances, all the team had to show for its effort were a couple of near misses including the one pictured here during a series of four corner kicks in a row before Wesleyan put the ball off the end line late in the second half. The game's lone goal, coming in the 53rd minute, came on a breakway with the ball just barely getting past goalie Jamie Hiteshew '08. The Cardinals will be off for a week before entertaining Middlebury Sat., Sept. 22. The last time the squad began the year with an 0-3 mark was the 0-9-1 campaign of the 1958 team.
