Moving in from the left side and dishing the ball off to Matt Nevin '09 for a potential shot, Alan Ashenfelter '09 (#12, photo courtesy of SteveMcLaughlinPhotography.com) received a pass back from Nevin and put home the game's only goal as Wesleyan defeated Wheaton on the road, 1-0, Tues., Oct. 2. Wheaton entered the game riding its own four-game win streak and tied for 25th nationally in the latest NSCAA Division III poll. Goalie Matt Gnall '08 made three saves to preserve the shutout. Perhaps his best save came 10 minutes in to the second half as he smothered a Lyon scoring attempt in close. Ashenfelter also had the game-winning goal in Wesleyan's win over Coast Guard six days earlier and assisted on the lone goal by Jory Kahan '10 in the Cardinals' 1-0 decision at Conn. College three days ago. Wesleyan will look to keep its streak going when it hosts Colby in a NESCAC contest Sat., Oct. 6.
