Wesleyan Extends Win Streak to Seven Games Behind Fifth Consecutive Shutout, 1-0 Over Bates
Picking up a scoring point for the sixth game in a row, Alan Ashenfelter '09 (#12, photo by Peter Stein '84) scored in the 10th minute of Wesleyan's home game vs. Bates Sat., Oct. 13, and it proved to be his third game-winning goal of the year. Jamie Hiteshew '08 made four saves for his third goose egg of 2007 as Wesleyan blanked the Bobcats, 1-0, for their seventh straight victory with the last five all coming via shutout. The string of shutouts represents a team mark as 10 previous teams fashioned a string of three shutouts in a row but no more. Over the last six games, Wesleyan has not allowed a goal in a span of 474:56. Ashenfelter's winner vs. Bates came after a head flick assist by Kyle Nuland '09. Wesleyan plays out of conference for its next game Wed., Oct. 17, visiting Western Connecticut.
