Cards Usher in 2009-10 with a 3-1 Trip to Boston Including 5-4 Nail Biter at Northeastern

Opening the 2009-10 campaign with a weekend trip to the Boston area, the Cardinals returned with a solid 3-1 record including a 5-4 victory at Northeastern, a team that defeated Wesleyan 9-0 early in the 2008-09 season. That win came Sat., Nov. 21 along with a 9-0 setback to Bates at Harvard. On Sun., Nov. 22, the Cardinals blasted both Boston U. and M.I.T. by 9-0 counts.

Leading the way for the Cardinals with 3-1 records were team co-captain Lonnie Gibbs '10 at #5, Brewster Lee '13 (right side of photo) at #4 and Kyle Baicker-McKee '11 (left side of photo), twice each at #7 and #8. All three won key matches vs. the Huskies along with Graham Immerman '10 and Shivan Bhavnani '13.

The team will have 12 days off from match play, then will resume competition with a vengeance by hosting the Wesleyan Round Robin Fri.-Sun., Dec. 4-6. Over the stretch, the team will play four matches beginning with St. Lawrence Friday night. Other opponents during the round robin will be Conn. College, Georgetown and Colgate.
