Men's Tennis Gets Elusive First NESCAC Win to Tie School Mark for Wins, Comes up Short in Quest for Record at Conn, Finishes with Loss to #1 Amherst
With four Cardinals registering wins in both singles and doubles, many in very close fashion, Wesleyan upped its seasonal mark to 13-5 on the year with a 7-1 win at Hamilton Sun., April 15. The team tied the 2002 squad which posted a 13-7 record for most wins in a season with two matches remaining. The Cardinals will look to break the tie in its next outing Wed., April 25 at Conn. College, a team Wesleyan defeated, 5-4, a year ago and has conquered 10 times in the last 11 meetings. At Hamilton, #1 Jeff Legunn '13 (photo upper left) won in three sets and paired with #4 Donald Kleckner '13 (photo lower left) for a 9-7 win at #1 doubles. Kleckner was a three-set victor in singles as well. Donovan Suh '15 (photo upper right) won his match at #5 singles when his opponent retired. He joined Ben Hudson '15 for an 8-6 triumph at #2 doubles. Stephen Monk '15 (photo lower right) was a straight-set winner at #2 singles and an 8-5 winner at #3 doubles, playing with Charlie Seifer '15.
