With 10 Lettermen Back, Men's Tennis Should Give a Good Accounting of Itself in 2007-08

07preseason

With eight of the 10 individuals who routinely saw action in either singles or doubles for the Cardinals during a 7-10 campaign in 2006-07 back on the courts, men's tennis will have a veteran look heading into 2007-08. The team did lose its #1 and #2 singles players who also combined to play first doubles, Tallen Todorovich '07 and Jack Rooney '07, to graduation. Still, team tri-captains Michael Frank '08 (photo insert upper right), Pauri Pandian '08 (main photo) and Max Schenkein '08 (photo insert lower left) will lead a corps of 10 lettermen with Jaafar Rizvi '09, Alejandro Alvarado '09, Paul Gerdes '09, Graham Immerman '09 and Matt O'Connell '09 all back as constant forces from a year ago. Miles Krieger '10 and Roy Chung '10 will also factor into the mix while newcomer Matt Schaff '11 has the talent to challenge for court time right away. Wesleyan will inaugurate the 2007 fall season with a trip to Wheaton College for an invitational Sun., Sept. 16. The opening dual match is at Springfield Wed., Sept. 19.
