Cards Down Coast Guard on the Road, 8-1, Then Add 5-4 Home Win Over Babson

Getting a rare start in singles at #5, Max Schenkein '08 (photo) took full advantage of the opportunity with a straight-set victory over his Coast Guard opponent during a match Wed., Oct. 10. The Cardinals easily defeated the Bears, 8-1, as Schenkein also teamed with Matt Schaff '11 for an 8-2 third-doubles triumph. Jaafar Rizvi '09 and Alejandro Alvarado '09 both were winners in both singles and doubles along with Matt O'Connell '09 who turned the trick at #1 in each activity. The team then hosted Babson Fri., Oct. 12 and came back for a 5-4 vcitory. After losing all three doubles matches, Wesleyan got straight-set singles victories from O'Connell (#!), Pauri Pandian '08 (#2), Paul Gerdes '09 (#3), Roy Chung '10 (#4) and Rizvi (#6) to capture the match. With their match at Colby-Sawyer Sun., Oct. 14, now postponed indefinitely, the Cardinals have concluded their fall schedule. Their next activity will take place during the spring.
