Tommie Lark '12 Qualifies for NCAAs in TJ & Sets Wes Record in LJ at ECACs - LaDarius Drew '15 Excels in Sprints Regionally - Chris Sailor '15 Places in N.E. Triple Jump
Tommie Lark (photo upper right) had the 19th best triple jump in Division III this season and qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships for the second year in a row after placing eighth nationally a year ago. Lark also is a two-time indoor track All-American, placing fifth in 2012 after finishing sixth in 2011. Lark will be the only Cardinal to compete in the NCAAs at Claremont, Calif. Thurs.-Sat., May 24-26. Lark defended his triple-jump title at the annual NESCAC track & field championships, this year hosted by Bates Sat., April 28, with a leap of 47-11 3/4 to outdistance the field by more than a foot. That was the effort which qualified him for nationals. He added a second-place leap in the long jump as well, going 23-3 1/2, a mere 1/4 inch shy of the Wesleyan record set 53 years ago. Wesleyan also got a pair of runner-up finishes from LaDarius Drew '15 (main photo) as his :10.69 time in the 100m bettered the Wesleyan all-time mark of :10.7 (hand-timed) set in 1983 while his :21.73 in the 200m also eclipsed the previous school record of :21.9, established in 1983 as well.
