LaDarius Drew '15, Named Outstanding Performer, Repeats as Two-Event Champ at NESCACs, Evan Bieder '15 5K Winner - Both Set Records at NE Open

After winning the 200m and long jump while placing second in the 100m at the 2014 NESCAC track & field championships, LaDarius Drew '15 (right side photo) improved on all his performances in time and distance Sat., April 25, as he repeated as NESCAC long-jump champion while winning the 100m and securing runner-up status in the 200m. A year ago, he was voted outstanding performer of the meet and 2015 followed suit as he repeated as the outstanding performer following the vote of the conference coaches. Drew conquered the field in the 100m with a :10.92 clocking and added a :22.11 run in the 200m, placing second, just a scant .06 seconds out of first. In the long jump, Drew leaped 23-4 3/4, just 1/4 inch shy of the Wesleyan school record held by Alll-American Tommy Lark, set in 2012. Drew is now tied for 11th nationally in Division III in the long jump. His nearest competior at the NESCAC meet was almost a foot behind. Wesleyan also got a premier finish in the 5k from Evan Bieder '15 (left side photo) as his 14:41.27 clocking bettered the field of 28 finishers by almost 36 seconds. The effort ranks him 24th in the country.
