One of two Cardinals to place in the final event of the indoor season, the ECAC Division III Meet hosted by Harvard Fri. & Sat., March 7-8, Sam Grover '08 (photo) added another 6 1/4 inches to his existing team triple jump record by placing sixth with a leap of 46-8 1/4. He had been one of three team members to place in an individual event during the New England Division III meet hosted by Tufts Fri.-Sat., Feb. 22-23, finishing third in the triple jump with a leap of 46-2 to surpass the mark set by teammate Tommie Lark '11 just two weeks earlier by two inches. Lark also picked up team points for the Cardinals in both the Division III affairs as Wesleyan finished in a tie for 12th among 25 scoring teams in the New Englands and in a tie for 48th among 58 scoring teams at the ECACs. Lark was fifth in the long jump at New Englands and eighth in the triple jump during the ECACs. Jonah Blumstein's '09 eighth-place run in the 5k was the third performance to garner points individually at the New England Div. III meet. Wesleyan's distance medley relay of Henry Kaplan '10, Brad Litchfield '09, Chris Coleman '10 and Matt Katz '11 posted a time of 10:38.61, good enough for fifth place among 14 entries. During the New England Open at Boston U. Fri., Feb. 29 through Sat., March 1, Grover and Lark provided the two team points earned by Wesleyan as each had an eighth-place showing, Grover in the triple jump and Lark in the long jump. Though he did not place, Litchfield had a solid effort in the 800m event with a time of 1:56.89. The Cardinals will now turn their attention to the outdoor season with the first action coming up in Tampa, Fla., Fri., March 21 with the Bulls Invitational at the U. of South Florida.
