Mike Moody '10

With the bulk of the Cardinals outdoor track & field squad competing in the Bulls Invitational hosted by the U. of South Florida Fri., March 21, several solid performances were turned in during the six-team meet. Leading the way for Wesleyan was Mike Moody '10 (photo) in the javelin as he eclipsed his own team mark of 187-11 set last year by placing second in the event at USF with a 188-2 throw. That effort qualifies him provisionally for the NCAA Division III Championships as the provisional range is from 188 to 205 feet. Wesleyan had another second-place finish, that coming from Tommie Lark '11 in the long jump as he came up with a 22-1 3/4 leap. On the track, the top showing by a Cardinals was the third-place effort of Brad Litchfield '09 in the 800m with a time of 1:59.83. Wesleyan competed a little closer to home in its next outing, that at Trinity College for its invitational Sat., March 29. There the top performance was the second-place finish of Sam Grover '08 in the high jump as he cleared 6-0. Wesleyan also had the second-place 4x400m relay squad. On Sat., April 5, the team heads to the Coast Guard Academy for its invitational.
