Tommie Lark '11 (photo) and Matt Shea '08 captured individual titles for Wesleyan during the Coast Guard Invitational Sat., April 5, helping the team accumulate 45 points for a fifth-place posting among 11 teams. Lark won the triple jump with a 46-8 3/4 effort. He was honored by the NESCAC as its Field Performer of the Week in men's track. Right behind Lark in second was Sam Grover '08 (46-7 1/4). Shea ran 10:01.24 to secure top honors in the 3000m steeple chase. In total, Wesleyan had eight place-winning performances. In addition, several distance runners made the trek to Princeton for its Sam Howell Invitational Fri., April 4. There Sean Watson '08 led Wesleyan by placing 18th in the 10k in a time of 31:11.40, just 6.4 seconds over the NCAA provisional qualifying standard. The team's next action will be the lone home meet of the year for the squad, the annual Elmer Swanson Invitational Sat., April 12.
