Conn. College Invitational is Opening Action of Spring Season and Wesleyan Comes in Second of Four
One of four teams competing in the Conn. College Invitational Sat., March 21 to begin the outdoor season, Wesleyan placed second with 108 points as Coast Guard ran away with the team title, scoring 338 points.
With Coast Guard winning 16 of 18 events, it left little opportunity for the Cardinals to secure a top finish. Wesleyan did come away with five runner-up postings. In the 1500m race, Justin Spring '10 (photo, right side) was 1.35 seconds out of first with a time of 4:08.14. Newman Hoffman '09 (photo, left side) tossed the shot 41-9 1/4 for a second-place effort. Also in second for Wesleyan was Derek Kuwuhara '09 in the javelin, and both relays squads - the 4x100m quartet of Alex Iwamoto '12, Kenton Atta-Krah '09, Jadeene Gabay '10 and Tommie Lark '11 and the 4x400m group of Henry Kaplan '10, Brad Litchfield '09, Nelson Norsworthy '10 and Avinash Sridhar '10.
Wesleyan turns its attention to the north for its next meet as the Cardinals will visit Trinity Sat., March 28 for the Bantams' Invitational.
