2006 ALUMNI/AE RACE

Back on campus for the 2006 edition of the alumni/ae cross-country race on Sat., Sept. 9 were  (L to R):  Erin Smith '06, Judy Seiff '86, Leah Sampson '00, Owen Kiely '06, Dave Buddington '63, Elmer Swanson (long-time former head coach), John Hastings '71, Art Magni '93 and Pat Butler '98.  Though alum and All-American Owen Kiley showed off his form with an 18-second margin of victory for the men over the 5k course, the current varsity eek'd out a 20-43 victory over the alums.  There was no team scoring for the women.

Matt Franco '07 tries to show professor of MB&B Scott Holmes, the faculty mentor to the cross country teams, the proper racing form.  Prof. Holmes showed Franco by the end of the race, beating him by almost a minute.

Acknowledging his many fans is John Hastings '71 while Dave Buddington '63 plays it cool.  The two ran neck-and-neck the whole way and in the end finished in a dead heat for last place.

Judy Seiff '86 does her patented chicken dive at the finish line as she covered the 3,458m course in 16:32.  If you're counting, that's about 3 1/2 meters a second ......pretty good!  In the background, race winner Ellen Davis '07 tries her own version of the chicken dive, but doesn't come close.
