Alex Hirsch '13 (main photo) and Donald Kleckner '13 (photo insert upper middle) accounted for three of the Cardinals' six team points during an opening-day 6-3 victory at Nichols Sat, Sept. 11. The Cardinals next match will be their home opener Sun., Sept. 19 when Union visits Middletown. Last year, the Cardinals made short work of the Dutchmen with a 7-2 road triumph.
Against Nichols, Hirsch won comfortably at #3 singles, 6-4, 6-2 while Kleckner rallied for a tight victory at #4, winning 7-5 in the third set. Michael Glen '13 took a three-set affair at #5 while Garrett Blank '11 rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 decision at #6. In doubles play, Hirsch and Kleckner produced an 8-5 victory at #2 with the #1 tandem of Jeff Legunn '13 and Ravy Uong '13 coming through with an 8-4 win.
