Getting stellar play from top hitter Casey Reed '12 (#6, right side photo) and setter Laura Yim '13 (#5, left side photo), the Cardinals finished up strong during the Wesleyan Quad Sat., Oct. 23, defeating both Western New England and Babson by 3-0 counts. The Cardinals upped their record to 7-12 on the year with three regular-season matches remaining.
Reed, who averages nearly four kills per set this season, racked up 28 kills over the six sets vs. WNEC and Babson, an average of 4.67, while hitting with a hefty .314 efficiency. Yim was steady in the assist department during the two matches with a total of 74, an average of 12.33, well above her seasonal figure of about nine entering the matches.
Hitting with deadly accuracy for the Cardinals was Kim Farris '14 as she collected 14 kills behind a .571 efficiency. She picked up four blocks to lead the Cardinals in that area. Ruby Hernandez '11 came up with 28 digs during the two victories, a solid 4.67 average. In the area of aces, Reed paced the squad with six, five of those vs. WNEC.
Wesleyan took the measure of WNEC, 25-17, 25-19, 25-23 while Babson went a little easier with a 25-20, 25-16, 25-17 decision.
Wesleyan is on the road for its final three matches starting with a trip to Eastern Connecticut Wed., Oct. 27.
