Jodi McKenna Coaches National U-18 Squad at Women's World Games in Sweden to Gold Medal Jan.8

Jodi McKenna Coaching at WorldsAfter coaching the women's U18 squad during the Women's Ice Hockey Festival in Lake Placid, N.Y. this past summer, Wesleyan head coach Jodi McKenna directed the National U18 squad during the World Championship in Stockholm, Sweden, Jan. 1-8, 2011.

After group play, the USA stood 3-0, having soundly defeated the Czech Republic (11-0), Japan (7-1) and host Sweden (10-0) to reach the semi-finals, which were played Fri., Jan. 7.  The USA faced the Czech Republic once again in the semi-finals, winning 14-1, while Canada took on Finland in the other semi-final, winning that contest, 6-1.  The Gold Medal and Bronze Medal games were played on Sat., Jan. 8.

The USA conquered Canada, 5-2, for the Gold Medal.  Finland got the Bronze Medal, 3-0 over the Czech Republic.
