Tanesha Jackson '13, Kar-Anne Tan '14 Lead Cardinals at Vassar Team Challenge

Taking on #14 Columbia for a second time this season along with #22 Vassar, the 19th-ranked Cardinals defeated the host, 7-2, but fell to the Lions, 7-2, during the annual Vassar Team Challenge Sat., Feb. 15.  Combined with the men's dual-victories, Wesleyan collected 23 team points but finished behind Columbia's 28 points in the chase for the team title.  Vassar had just three points.

The two Cardinals to register wins over Columbia were #4 Tanesha Jackson '13 (right side photo) and #8 Kar-Anne Tan '14 (left side photo).  Jackson won an exciting five-game match while Tan rolled to a 3-0 win.  Each was victorious against Vassar as well, Jackson at #3 and Tan at #6, both by 3-0 counts.  Tan was particularly dominant, yielding no more than four points in any of her six games during Challenge.

Now with a 12-11 record and just three matches remaining, those coming up Fri.-Sun., Feb. 18-20, during the annual Howe Cup competition, this season hosted by Princeton, the Cardinals have their sites set on a second straight winning record.  Last year, the squad went 15-14, ending a string of 10 sub-.500 records.
