Former Major League pitcher Luis Tiant, most known for his efforts with the Boston Red Sox during a 19-year professional career, will be on the Wesleyan campus Thursday, April 7, 2011, to attend a screening of the movie "Lost Son of Havana", a 2009 documentary about his life and eventual return to Cuba in 2007 after a 46-year absence. The movie will be shown in Wesleyan's Center fo the Arts (CFA) Hall at 7:30 p.m., followed by conversation with both Tiant and the film's maker, Emmy-Award winner Jonathan Hock.
In addition, the movie "The Two Escobars", a documentary by Jeffrey and Michael Zimbalist ’02 about drugs, power and soccer in Colombia, will be shown Friday, April 8.
The presentations are part of the Center for the Americas’ 2011 Americas Forum, which will take place on campus April 7-8.
