
After a relatively slow start, the Cardinals got their offense in gear during the second half and pulled away from SUNY Maritime on the road Wed., March 9, for a 9-2 victory to improve to 2-0 on the season with the NESCAC opener at Bowdoin looming for Sat., March 12. At Maritime, first-half goals by Max Landow '12 and Conor Malangone '11 spotted Wesleyan a 2-0 lead through 30 minutes of play. The score was a tenuous 3-1 with 6:00 left in the third period before Wesleyan added six goals over the final 21 minutes, including three by John Froats '12 (#6, right side photo), who finished the game with four points as he also assisted on Malangone's tally.
Goalie Grant Covington '12 (#35, left side photo) looked sharp in the net with eight stops while yielding just two goals. In additon to Froats, Landow turned in a multiple-point game with a goal and two helpers while Graham Macnab '14 broke into the scoring column for the first time in his career with a pair of goals. Wesleyan outshot its host handily, 48-21, and won 10 of 15 faceoffs thanks to Joe Del Visco '12.
