Ernest Wingate '14 Accounts for More Than One-Third of Cardinals' Point in Gravel Classic at Westfield St.
Ernest Wingate '14 (main photo) took second in the 110m hurdles during the Jerry Gravel Classic hosted by Westfield St. Sat., March 26, as the highest Cardinal finisher during the meet. His time was :15.62. He added a fourth-place performance in the 400m hurdles, timed in :58.35, and ran the leadoff leg of Wesleyan's fourth-place 4x100m relay squad (:44.37), joined by Jack Pacelle '13 (photo insert upper middle), James Dottin '13 and Paulie Lowther '13 (photo insert upper left).
Lowther picked up third-place points himself for the Cards in the 200m race, timed in :23.13, and Pacelle added seventh-place points in the 400m race (:50.93), followed by Lowther in eighth place (:51.89). Two Cardinals placed in the 1500m race - Sam Roth '13, who placed fourth (4:09.21) and Matt Katz '11, who took fifth (4:09.54). The final Wesleyan points came from the eight-place performance of Shane Bernard '14 in the triple jump. In total, Wesleyan collected 37 team points, putting the Cardinals eighth among 16 teams.
Wesleyan will be back in action Sat., April 2 with a trip to Coast Guard for its invitational.
