Cardinals Put in Strong Showing at Head of the Charles & Head of the Fish to Conclude Fall Racing - Open Spring Season in Florida
At the Head of the Charles Regatta Sat.-Sun., Oct. 22-23 in Boston, the Cardinals opened with a solid fifth-place showing by the varsity 4 in the Collegiate 4 race on Saturday. The Cardinals closed out the trip to Boston with a 15th-place showing among 40 entries in the Collegiate 8 on Sunday. Representing Wesleyan in the varsity 4 was the young group of cox Grant Nikols '14, Tenzin Masselli '15, Peter Heye '14, Arthur Burkart '14 and Nick Bender '14. The varsity 8 was composed of Sam Hoefle '14, Spencer Hattendorf '12, Bryce Hollingsworth '13, David Hinds '13, Noah Solomon '14, Ben Record '15, Peter Martin '14 and Trevor Michelson '13 with cox Peter Chu '14.
The same goup of eight rowers and coxswain accounted for Wesleyan performance at the Head of the Fish Regatta Sat., Oct. 29 in Saratoga, N.Y.
There the varsity took third of 15 crews, trailing just Williams and Marist. This regatta brouight Wesleyan fall racng season to a close.
The team's next event took place Sat., March 17 during its annual pilgrimmage to Florida during the March break. There Wesleyan took on three other squads with the results of the varsity eight race reading Rollins 5:50.7, Florida 5:57.0, Wesleyan 5:58.0, Army 6:12.1.
