Monica Leslie '14 Has Solid Weekend During Hard-Fought 3-1 Setbacks to NESCAC Rivals Tufts & Conn

Taking on NESCAC rivals Tufts and Conn. College in a pair of matches hosted by Trinity Fri., Oct. 14 and Sat., Oct. 15, Wesleyan fell in both outings by a 3-1 count.  Though the Cardinals stand 1-6 in NESCAC play thus far this season with matches vs. the C-B-B remaining, Wesleyan has taken a set against every NESCAC foe which claimed a victory.  Each of those conference adversaries has at least a .500 NESCAC mark and stands at least six games above .500 overall.  The Cardinals will play out of conference in their next start, hosting Rhode island College Tues., Oct. 18 in a match slated for a webcast.

Monica Leslie '14 (#7, photo) collected 22 kills over the weekend along with a .207 hitting efficiency.  She also paced the squad in blocks with seven. Casey Reed '12 led the squad with 23 kills.  Claire Larson '15 tossed up 58 assists and Jeanne McPhee '13 racked up 28 digs.  Reed was second in that department with 15.

Wesleyan captured the opening set vs. the Camels, 25-21, but fell in the final three by scores of 18-25, 25-27, and 16-25.  Against Tufts, Wesleyan captured the second set, 25-23, while sets one, three and four went the Jumbos' way, 14-25, 10-25, 18-25.
