Rachel Hirsch '15 & Roxy Capron '14 Go One-Two in All 3 Breaststroke Events at Cardinal Invitational

Leading Wesleyan to a close second-place team finish in the five-team Cardinal Invitatonal Sat.-Sun., Dec. 3-4, Rachel Hirsch '15 (top photo) and Roxy Capron '14 (bottom photo) placed first and second, respectively, in the 50, 100 and 200 breaststroke to account for 111 of the Cardinals' 944.5 team points.  Hamilton won the Invitational with 951 points, a mere 6.5 points ahead of Wesleyan.  Wesleyan outpointed the Continentals in the pool by 50 points but 57 Hamilton points in diving, where the Cardinals had no entries, pushed Hamilton to the team title.  The Cardinals outscored WPI, Trinity and Clark comfortably.  Trinity will be Wesleyan's next dual-meet opponent with that coming up Fri., Dec. 9 in Hartford to close out the first semester activity.

Wesleyan had three other swimmers collect second-place points during the Invitational as Alyssa Savarino '14 was runner-up in the 50 free ; Rachel Cohn '13 placed second in the 400 IM ; and Angela Slevin '15 came in second in the 100 back.
