Facing #5 ranked Roger Williams and #7 ranked Trinity in a tri-match in Bristol, R.I. Sun., Jan. 15, Wesleyan, ranked #4 in NEWA, rolled to a pair of triumphs, downing the host, 27-11, and the Bantams, 31-16. The win over Trinity was the ninth straight for the Cardinals. Ahead for the team is the annual NEWA Duals, hosted by Springfield Sun., Jan. 22. Wesleyan will likely be seeded fourth among the 14 squads and is the returning champion from 2011.
Nick Scotto '13 (photo upper right), at 141, Howard Tobochnik '13 (photo upper left), at 149, and Kyle Roosa '13 (bottome photo), at 174, all wrestled twice and conquered their rivals from RWU and Trinity. Scotto took a pair of decisions while Tobochnik had a pin and a decision while Roosa logged a pair of major decisions. At 125, Ben Schwartz '15 also won twice with one victory by decision and the other by forfeit. Joey Schwartz '14 took his lone match of the day vs. RWU by pin at 133 as did Maika Nagata '13, also at 133 vs. Trinity. Also recording a pin vs. Trinity at 165 was Tom Oddo '12.
