Brendan Fortin '13 Has Top Cardinal Finish in NESCAC Championships with 7th Place in 200 Fly, Set School Mark in Prelims

Momo Saleh '12 (photo insert upper left), Martin Kafina '14 (photo insert upper right) and Brendan Fortin '13 (bottom photo) led the way for the Cardinals at the NESCAC meet hosted by Williams Fri.-Sun., Feb. 24-26.  Fortin had the top finish with a seventh-place effort in the 200 fly (1:57.08 after a 1:54.39 in the prelims, which broke the Wesleyan record by 1.27 seconds).  Saleh had three strong performances as he grabbed ninth in the 400 IM (4:10.70), 14th in 200 breast (2:10.76) and 17th in the 200 IM (1:57.16).  Kafina was 10th in the 100 fly (:51.56) and 12th in the 50 fly (:23.28) to round out Wesleyan's highest point-gathering swims.

As a team, Wesleyan placed 11th of 11 squads as a lack of depth prevented the Cardinals from outpointing any of their NESCAC rivals.  This meet brought the 2011-12 campaign to a close.
