Jordan Schildhaus '15 Reaps NESCAC Rookie of the Year Honors for Her Stellar Inaugural Women's Ice Hockey Campaign

Jordan Schildhaus '15 (#19, photo), who led Wesleyan in scoring during the 2011-12 season with eight goals and five assist for 13 points, was honored by the NESCAC as its Rookie of the Year following the vote of the conference coaches.  Schildhaus is Wesleyan's first Rookie of the Year in women's ice hockey but joins a growing list of Cardinal athletes to recently earn the distinction including LaDarius Drew '15 in football, Adam Purdy '13 in men's soccer, Shasha Brown '13 in men's basketball, Laura Kurash '13 in women's soccer and John Froats '12 in men's lacrosse.

Schildhaus tied for the team lead in goals this season with Kelsey Muller '13 while her five assist tied her for second on the squad.  She netted a pair of power-play goals, had the team's only short-handed goal and connected for a pair of game-winning tallies.  In total, freshman accounted for 15 of the Cardinals' 37 goals in 2011-12 as Wesleyan upped its goal-scoring production by 14 goals over a year ago.  Wesleyan posted three NESCAC wins this season, kncoking off Little Three rival Williams to open the year, and adding victories over Hamilton and Colby.
