Teddy Citrin '12 & John Froats '12 Pace Attack, Grant Covington '12 Solid in Net as Men's Lax Bests Maritime, 12-3

Teddy Citrin '12 (#20, photo upper left) racked up four goals and dished off an assist for a five-point game, while John Froats '12 (#6, main photo) contributed two goals and two assists for four points as the Cardinals rolled past SUNY Maritime for the fourth straight season with a convincing 12-3 win.  Wesleyan generated a 52-23 edge in shots.

With all 49 players suited up for the game seeing action, four goals minded the Cardinal net in the game.  Grant Covington '12 had an excellent effort as he recorded seven saves while yielding a lone goal in 35 minutes of work.  The remaining three keepers combined for two saves and two goals against.

On four occasions in the contest, a Wesleyan player netted back-to-back goals.  Citrin was the first as he spotted Wesleyan a 2-0 lead though his goals were 17 minutes apart as the score was just 2-0 after 23 minutes of play.  Goals then came fast and furious over the next five minutes with Max Landow '12 scoring the final two of the half to give the Cardinals a 5-1 edge.  Citrin opened the second half with a pair of goals only 1:06 apart for a 7-1 Wesleyan lead at 11:45 of the third quarter.  The final Cardinal to hit the twine twice in short order was Chris Walsh '14, who turned the trick in a span of 2:34 to end the night's scoring.
