Allee Beatty '13 (photo) received second-team all-NESCAC honors for the second straight year when the all-conference selections were announced Thursday, May 10. Beatty led the team with a .381 average and stole 33 bases to lead the NESCAC while improving her Wesleyan career-record figure to 89. Beatty hit safely 43 times in 2012, increasing her career total to 129 to rank sixth on the all-time Wesleyan career list with a year to go. Beatty also had a 12-game hitting streak during the season, beginning with a 1 for 3 performance against Kean in Clermont, Fla., and continuing through a doubleheader at Western Connecticut State, which was ranked 16th nationally in Division III at the time. Beatty had eight multi-hit games during the streak, including a combined 5 for 8 performance in the Western Connecticut twinbill, and 16 multi-hit games overall. Her on-base percentage of .413 was also a team high.
Another statistical standout for Wesleyan was Chrissy Bello '12, who added 22 hits to her career total to place fourth all-time with 144. Wesleyan ended the year 8-26 overall, 3-9 in NESCAC West play. Eight of the Cardinals' defeats came against nationally ranked teams, with five more coming by a single run. Included in the season was a three-game sweep of NESCAC West rival Hamilton, Wesleyan's sixth straight three-game sweep of the Continentals, and a 10-2 win over then-undefeated (9-0) Allegheny in Florida.
