With Jess Tollman '15 (#30, main photo) starting the game and making three saves during her 45 minutes of minding the net, then another 65 minutes of shutout netminding by Rachel Hobert '16 (photo insert upper right), who was making her collegiate debut, the Cardinals forged a scoreless deadlock from their excursion to Eastern Conn. Wed., Sept. 12. Next up for the team is a NESCAC battle with Tufts Sat., Sept. 15, followed by a matchup with Hamilton in another NESCAC game Sun., Sept. 16. At Eastern, the Warriors outshot the Cardinals, 17-11, but each team put six shots on net. Hobert also posted three saves. Each side generated a few good scoring opportunities, either to be thwarted by the opposing keeper or just miss the mark high or wide. Wesleyan holds a lead in the overall series, 5-3-3, with the Cardinal securing a win a year ago in Middletown, 3-0. The teams have tied three times in the last five meetings.
