Bowdoin Takes Evenly Played Opener vs. Wesleyan, 1-0, as Cardinal Keeper Jess Tollman '15 Makes Nine Stops

Jess Tollman '15 (#30, photo by Peter Stein '84) stopped nine would-be Bowdoin scoring attempts, with six of them coming in the second half, but Bowdoin netted the game's lone marker in the 30th minute as the homestanders took a 1-0 win in the season opener for both squads Sat., Sept. 8.  Several of Tollman's second-half saves were sparkling in keeping Wesleyan within striking distance.

Bowdoin produced a 15-11 margin in total shots while corner kicks were virtually even at 7-6 in Bowdoin favor in the rather evenly played battle.  Still, the Cardinals could not crack the Bowdoin defense with seven of their 11 shots finding the net but stopped by the pair of Bowdoin netminders, one in each period.

Up next for the Cardinals is a trip to Easetrn Connecticut Wed., Sept. 12 for an evening tilt against the Warriors in a non-conference affair.
