
Inaugurating the season Sat.-Sun., Nov. 17-18, in the Boston Round Robin for the fourth year in a row, the Cardinals returned with a 2-2 mark, having handily defeated local squads Boston College, 9-0, and MIT, 9-0, while falling to Middlebury, 8-1, and Brown, 6-3.
The match against the Bruins Sunday proved to be the most exciting as Wesleyan, ranked 23rd, looked to upset 17th-ranked Brown. Led by the 3-0 win at #4 by Daniel Sneed '15 (photo), Wesleyan also got a five-game victory at #5 from Zander Nassikas '14 and a 3-0 win at #8 from newcomer Raheem Logan '16. At #1, Guy Davidson '16 took a 2-0 lead but couldn't sustain the momentum as he fell in a five-game affair.
In the match against 15th-ranked Middlebury, Sneed pulled out a thrilling 3-2 triumph, taking the final game, 12-10. He was the lone undefeated Cardinal among the regulars in the lineup with a 3-0 mark over the weekend. Nassikas and Logan went 3-1.
Wesleyan will have two matches coming up at home Sun., Dec. 2 in the Wesleyan Round Robin, taking on Vassar and Colgate. The Cardinals will be favored in both matches as Vassar stands 39th and Colgate, 32nd, in the preseason national rankings.
