Wrestling Returns from RIT Invitational With Four Individual Winners and a Team Title as Nick Scotto '13 is Outstanding Wrestler & NEWA Honoree

Sending 18 wrestlers to take part in the 47th annual RIT Invitational Sat., Dec. 1, Wesleyan returned with four individual champions, a total of eight place-winners and a team title among 11 squads in attendance.  The Cardinals had finished second as a team the last two visits in 2011 and 2010 and came in third during the 2009 invitational.

Named Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament was 141-pounder Nick Scotto '13, as he posted a 4-0 mark for a title, pinning three of his opponents and registering a major decision (11-3) in the championship match.  He also earned NEWA Wrester of the Week honors for his tremendous performance.  Also claiming first-place finishes with 4-0 marks were Kyle Roosa '13 at 174, Jefferson Ajayi '13 at 184 and Josh Roometua '16 at 197.  Roometua was the Rookie of the Week in the NEWA. Wesleyan collected 152 team points to outdistance second-place John Carroll, which had 138 points.

Also placing among the top six in their weight class were Howard Tobochnik '13, who took second at 157, with a 4-1 mark; Chris Siracusa '16 (5-1) and James Hamilton '16 (4-1), who claimed third place at 133 and 125, respectively; and John San Filippo '16 (3-2), who placed fifth at 197.
