
Competing in the Hampton Inn Classic hosted by UMass Dartmouth Sat., April 13, Wesleyan placed 19th of the 19 participating teams. The tournament, originally schedule as a two-day event, was truncated to one day due to poor weather on the first day. Host UMD was the team champion with a 305 total. Wesleyan scored a 380, led by Tommy Hartnett '14 (photo insert right side) with a score of 91 on the par 72 course. Next for Wesleyan was Justin Gitlin '15 with a 94 while team captain Ryan Marvick '14 (main photo) carded a 96.
Wesleyan headed to Williams for its annual spring opener Sat., and Sun., April 20/21 for its next action. There Wesleyan was eighth of eight participating teams. Brad Improta '14 led the Wesleyan contingent with a 94-92-186 score over the two-day affair on the par 72 Taconic Golf Course. Williams won the event with a 633 score. Wesleyan totaled 819.
Wesleyan concluded its spring action Wed., April 24 at Amherst in the Little Three championship. Wesleyan fell to both its rivals, 12-0, in the Ryder Cup style scoring. Williams edged Amherst for the title with a tie-breaker decision as the teams tied, 6-6. Wesleyan's best efforts in the two-man, alternating-shot portion of the event came from the team of Justin Gitlin '15 and Jared Goldenberg '16 vs. Williams, dropping a 3-and-2 deicison while Improta and Hartnett joined forces to come up a 4-and-3 loser to Amherst. In single match play, Hartnett fell 2-and-1 vs. Amherst while Nikhil Lai '15 lost by the same slim count vs. Williams.
