Jill Gately '15 (#17, main photo) went 3-for-5 during a pair of games against Albertus Magnus Mon., April 15, pounding a three-run homer in the 1st inning of game one to trigger a five-run frame during a 10-2, five-inning victory, then added a solo homer in game two, a 4-1 Cardinal conquest. Gately finished the day with six RBI and three runs scored. As a team, Wesleyan collected 23 hits over the two games while first-game pitcher Laura Getchell '14 (#7, photo insert lower right) yielded three hits and two runs with six strikeouts. Second-game hurler Amanda Roosa '16 (#15, photo insert upper right) surrendered six hits and one run while logging her second complete game of the season. Roosa also picked up four hits in six-at-bats while scoring a run and driving in another while hitting in both games.
Ashley McLaren '13 posted three RBI in game one, including a two-run triple in the 3rd inning as Wesleyan built a 10-0 advantage through three innings. Wesleyan jumped ahead 2-0 in the 1st inning of game two as both McLaren and Gately smacked RBI doubles. Wesleyan used another RBI double, this time by Lexi Parr '15 in the 5th inning, to make it a 3-1 lead before Gately finished off the scoring with a leadoff homer in the 7th, her fourth round-tripper of the season.
Wesleyan now has 20 wins on the year, the third time in team history the team has cracked the 20-win barrier in a season. This is the fastest the team has reached 20 victories. In 2007, when the team first reached 20 wins with a 21-15 mark, Wesleyan hit its 20th win against 12 losses. This year's squad has half as many setbacks.
