Little 3 Champ Baseball Enjoys Banner Season, Has Numerous Honorees Including 6 on NESCAC List

The Wesleyan baseball team achieved numerous team and individual honors in 2013 en route to finishing in first place in the NESCAC West regular-season standings as well as winning the Little Three title.

The Cardinals dominated the all-NESCAC baseball squad with six honorees while six players were named to the academic all-NESCAC team. In addition, Andrew Yin '15 was named a second-team ECAC New England Division III all-star and to the prestigious CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-America team.

The Cardinals finished first in the league in hitting for the second straight season, while finishing with the third lowest team ERA in 35 years.  Donnie Cimino '15 led the NESCAC in batting average for the second straight year, while Yin had a 29-game hitting streak. Both were first-team all-NESCAC choices.  Sam Goodwin-Boyd '15 was exceptional at first base, fielding perfectly in 314 chances. On the mound, Jeff Blout '14 went 5-2 with a 2.06 ERA and Nick Cooney '15 went 6-2 with a 3.05 ERA. These three found spot on the all-NESCAC second team.  Head Coach Mark Woodworth earned Coach of the Year honors in leading the Cardinals to the second most victories (25-15-1) in the 148-year history of baseball at Wesleyan.
