Remaining undefeated vs. Hamilton in three all-time meetings, the Cardinals had to rally from a 2-0 deficit in the first half to come away with a 4-3 victory Sat., Sept. 28. The Cardinals had posted a 2-0 win in 2011, followed by a 4-0 triumph last season. Hannah Plappert '16 (#9, photo) netted the final two goals for the Cardinals, the first coming in the 45th minute to cap a three-goal burst in an 11-minute span between the first and second halves, to spot Wesleyan its first lead at 3-2. When Hamilton tied the game four minutes later, Plappert came through with a low shot from in close with 9:30 remaining in the contest to pick up the game-winner. The goals were the first of the season for Plappert.
Earlier, Mikaela Celella '16 picked up her first tally of the season in the last minute in the first half to cut the Cardinals' deficit at the time to 2-1. Just 4:08 into the second half, leading scorer Blair Ingraham '14 tied the game at 2-2 with her fourth goal of the season.
Wesleyan completely dominated the offensive stats in the game, outshooting its host, 29-13, while generating a remarkable 26 penalty corners to just eight for the Continentals.
In goal, Sara Grundy '16 came up with four saves in the opening period while Sarah Prickett '17 took over for the second half, making three stops and picking up her first career victory.
