Collecting 22 kills, 25 digs, three blocks, an ace and an assist over the three matches of the Brandeis Invitational Fri.-Sat., Sept. 6-7, Kate Centofanti '14 (#9, photo) was named to the nine-member all-tournament team. Wesleyan had dropped its opening match to the host Friday, 3-0, then fell to both Emmanuel and Babson by the same score Saturday.
Centofanti logged a team-high 13 kills in the Emmanuel match but the Saints came as with a 25-19, 25-20, 25-22 victory in the first-ever meeting of the squad. Also coming through with a strong effort was Monica Leslie '14 with 10 kills behind a .600 hitting percentage. Claire Larson '15 dished out 33 assists and libero Rachel Savage '17 had a team-best 11 digs.
Against Babson, Wesleyan fell by a 25-12, 25-11, 25-21 count. In that match, the first won by Babson over Wesleyan in four all-time meetings, Leslie paced the Cardinals with 10 kills while Larson had 20 assists and Savage 14 digs.
Up next for the team is the inaugural home match Fri., Sept. 13 against traditional in-state foe Eastern Connecticut.
